This is a large 1960's rhinestone brooch. It is a raised open curled comma design. The finish is japanned. The rhinestones are a dark red and are brilliant. The closure is a safety roll over clasp that is soldered to the frame. It is in very good condition with finish loss on the pin stem and clasp only. Size is 2 inches in width by 2 1/4 inches in length. It is a heavier piece.
Japanned finish is one in which the metal is coated in a shiny black or very dark gray coating. Often has a lustrous black lacquer over the top of it.
