This is a vintage pendant necklace signed Sol D'or. The pendant has a circular design with a center green enameled shamrock. At the base is the Irish Claddagh symbol. The Claddagh is an Irish symbol that represents love (heart), loyalty (crown) and friendship (hands). The designs and customs associated with it originated in the Irish fishing village of the same name in Galway. The pendant is attached to a 20 inch gold tone chain with a spring ring clasp. This pendant does show some fine pitting of the gold tone finish on the front and finish wear on the reverse. It is a great necklace to wear for St. Patrick's Day.
Sol D'or jewelry was made by Miracle for Solvar, a company in Ireland. Miracle was established in 1946 in Birmingham, England. The company is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of Celtic, Irish and Scottish style of jewelry.
