A twentieth century piece of mould blown, hand worked Venetian glass. This is one of a series of pieces in this color in many shapes found in Venetian art glass catalogs from the 1970s. This type of vintage glass is now collectible in its own right. It really is a great piece of art glass. Rare example with a roughly polished pontil. No chips or cracks, a few very minor scuffs in the satin finish, and probably could use some additional, careful cleaning. Measures just over 5 1/2 inches tall.
Note: Nineteenth and very early twentieth century glass does not usually have reeded handles, and if a piece does have such a handle, the reeds are not as fine (not as many lines). This is just one way to help identify vintage 20th century and contemporary pieces.
