Fully hallmarked, and in beautiful condition, this delicate little sweets tazza can be dated to the exact year of production! We also know the maker, as his maker's mark is clearly legible. The hallmarks are incredibly well disguised on the piece but crystal clear. Reticulated design features faces of the wind blowing all around! Top quality production. These small antique tazzas have become very rare, as many of them were melted down in hard times. They were easy to carry off from the home to sell, easily fitting in a purse or bag, affording the lady of the house discretion. These small tazzas were often placed next to a similar larger pieces when entertaining, as a complimentary piece, for sweets, or just "to look smart". Hard to find today! Measures in 12cm diameter and 5cm tall, or 4.7 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. J. Batson & Son, London, Brewer Street, 1898, letter dated. Outstanding and rare piece.
