A solid silver, very decorative cream or tasting spoon, German, from one of the Hanau silversmiths, hallmarked 800. This pictorial spoon depicts a European couple returning from a bay market with a basket of produce. Notice the lady has a parasol! From the pictures you can clearly see the various hallmarks, 4 in all, very rare for this many hallmarks on one spoon. One of the hallmarks allows us to identify the silversmith as Storck & Sinsheimer. Based on the subject matter and maker, we date this lovely and historical spoon to about 1880. Beautiful, and so telling of the time. The spoon weighs 30.77 grams and measures 11.7cm (4.6 inches) long. Much more beautiful than the pictures convey.
