Of all of the known 25 Dickens miniatures produced by Royal Doulton, Little Nell, from "The Old Curiosity Shop", is my favorite. And this is no ordinary example: this one is from the original series of sixteen produced in the 1922 to 1932, and carries the old Doulton England backstamp. It is made of fine china, and the quality is superb. Poor Nell was quite a tragic figure, and portrayed as a kind and patient girl. This dignified little figure has the most sad and serene countenance - as if she had come to life right out of the pages of one of the story papers of Georgian England. She deserves a good home, once and for all, even if little Nell in the pages of Dickens struggled until her tragic demise. Measures about 4 1/4 inches tall and is in perfect condition, though does have some light crazing due to age on her underside.
