Tony Weller is a character in Charles Dickens' "The Pickwick Papers". My Pickwick esquire, a wealthy old gentleman, grew curious about life outside of the confines of regency London. He organized coach tours to the countryside for his cohorts, so they could explore and report back to him. Tony Weller was the talkative coachman, who who ferried them around the countryside. An that's where the misadventures began! Dickens novels were usually compilations of stories from his contributions to popular penny papers of the day. This little figure is one of the highly desired older, pre-war figures made from 1922 to 1939, marked simply Doulton, England on the bottom. He's 4 inches tall and in perfect condition.
