An early example of a pipe holder or match holder. A real glimpse far back in time; her manner of dress and hairstyle suggests the 1860s. And her face! Serene and composed. Possibly English, but these wares were made in the Americas as well. The piece is in remarkable condition, with only wear to gold and rich deep brown cold paints, lending a pleasing patina to the piece. Impressed mark on the bottom reads L & C and the number three. Measures 9 inches (about 23 cm) tall. Excellent!
