This irresistible Rosenthal figure was designed in the 1920s by Albert Caasmann. It has incredible detail and expression. Know as "Two Playmates" or "The Companion", the figure depicts a young boy with his favorite pet. It's almost heart wrenching how much he adores his woolly friend! This figure, based on the type of mark used, was produced from 1934 to 1949. I've seen a few of these figures in my many years of collecting and dealing in fine porcelain, as they are relatively rare. This is the finest example I have ever seen - the painting of the face is both adorable and very telling of the era. Most do not have painted face details at all. Near mint condition with absolutely no chips cracks, crazing or damage. Miniscule wear to gold paint on bell on one edge, hard to see. Very fine example. Measures 4 3/4" tall and about 5 1/2" long. None better!
