Well here's is another mischievous putto, throwing a ball around. Spheres were a popular accessory for sculpture during the art deco era and this one was originally modeled during that time. Putto, or cherubs minus wings, while often tied to religious themes, are really secular beings. As such they can often be seen engaged in such dubious activities as drunkenness, voyeurism, brawling, and just generally irritating people. Yet, they are so child-like and cute, who can be blamed for finding them adorable? This one measures 6.25" tall, and is in perfect condition. The mark on the bottom dates him from 1928 to 1953.
