This vintage pottery wall hanging depicts the face of Bacchus, head mounted with grapes and leaves. It is made of heavy, completely hand formed red clay, perhaps terra cotta pottery, decorated with a very thick, white glaze. It's quite remarkable and striking when mounted on a wall because of the contrast with the white. The processed picture makes it look a little eerie but its really a warm and inviting face with a darker background! Measures tall and wide. I can think of no better kitchen, porch or garden wall decorative! This is a heavy piece weighing four pounds - you will need a sturdy mount to hang. A short strong cord through the metal eye will work nicely. If mounting to drywall, use a strong anchor. This piece should last through the ages! Circa 1950.
