The Royal Doulton Company has been around for about two hundred years. One thing that has been consistent over the years is that they have produced beautiful ceramics and china of high quality. There were nine Professionals series plates that were produced from 1909 through 1974. They were called "The Jester", "The Admiral", "The Falconer", "The Parson", "The Doctor", "The Hunting Man", "The Mayor", "The Squire" and "The Bookworm". There were four firings in the Professionals series of plates. This plate is one of the D6XXX series produced from 1948 to 1960. The Jester plate depicts the Jester and his puppet in shades of red, green, yellow, peach and black. The border is decorated with Chinese lanterns and foliage. The plate measures about 10 1/2 inches rim to rim and carries the Royal Doulton backstamp used since 1932 and D6277. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. It has that great old timey look!
