Royal Doulton introduced Dickens series ware in 1908. Seven series were made of items with a similar theme. Believe it or not, bowls, coffeepots, flowerpots, mugs, jugs, plates, pitchers, and even toilet sets and trays were made! “The Pickwick Papers” was Charles Dickens’ first novel, initially written in 1836. The English registry number shown dates the design to 1936. Royal Doulton made these pitchers in two phases: 1935-1937, and 1949-1953. It is difficult to determine which series this is, because the backstamp was the same for both of them. It's in great shape with no damage, chips crack or crazing! Neat! Measures 5 and 1/2 inches tall and almost 8 inches handle to spout - a good sized pitcher.
