A nice, harder to find mini Royal Doulton character jug, or Toby, of Tam O’Shanter (D6640). Designed by Max Henk, it was issued from 1973 to 1980. Measures 2.5 inches tall. Tam is a character in an 18th century Scottish poem, who happens upon a coven of dancing witches in the woods. He flees for his life, but not before one of the witches manages to pull the tail off of his horse as it leaps across a stream! You can see the witch and tail as the handle of the mug. Unusual!
