A late Qing chop seal or stamp with archaic characters, featuring a seated Buddha on top. Such stamps were used to mark important documents. This one is made of shoushan stone, a famous and revered stone from the Shoushan village in northern Fujian, China. Such carvings date back 1600 years to the southern dynasties. This is a heavy, much larger than average chop, measuring 5 and 3/4 inches tall and weighing 1 and a half pounds!
