Sensational colors! My wife immediately put this in the foyer; she had no idea what it was but raved about the look and color. This piece dates to the late Meiji period, C1900. I don't know if it was an export piece or not, but I don't think so , because it is unmarked. It may have had an overglaze mark that was worn or washed off. It's in fantastic shape, no damage. chips or cracks. It does have light staining on the interior, of no consequence. This is a substantial piece, measuring about 11 inches at the widest point, and 5 inches tall. It would work extremely well with plants in it, and is water tight, but I would use a liner to protect the piece. Wonderful texture and feel to this one. When it is purchased, I will have to sneak it out to the post.
