Gino Ruggeri was a famous sculptor in Italy, who was able to create very fine classical sculptures of extraordinary detail. He worked for Tito Bianchi in their factory in Tuscany for many years. They produced high quality sculptures of Oxolyte, which is alabaster mixed with resins. It looks and feels like white marble and is cool to the touch like stone, and is extremely durable. These sculptures were quite popular world wide in the mid twentieth century. In fact you can find some dealers who will market these sculptures as marble or alabaster, because most people (including art experts) cannot tell the difference since they do contain actual stone. Each of these sculptures is in excellent, undamaged condition and we have placed new felt on the bottom so they are ready to display. The front of each is marked with the name of the composer and the back is signed G. Ruggeri. These are perfect piano and desktop decoratives for the classical music fan, and wonderful bookshelf pieces to add a classical touch to any decor. Each is about 5.8 inches tall, and wonderfully and realistically detailed. These are heavily made and each weighs about 1 pound and five ounces. Circa 1960.
