The first time we found one of these we were in San Francisco, and I found one in the basement of an old antique store in China town. I wasn't exactly sure what is was, but it makes so much sense now. It's heavy, durable stoneware, has a nice pocket in it, hangs on the wall much like a wall pocket vase, and has drain holes in the bottom. Perfect for chopsticks to drain after washing, for straws at your bar, or utensils. Or dried up, crispy flowers. Plus, it is so very cool! We put one in our shop every time we find one (not very often). Auspicious lucky bat and coin on the pocket ensures your cooking and/or bartending excellence. It measures 7 1/2 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 2 1/2 deep, These are about 100 years old, and very rustic and crazed, as they are old and utilitarian. But this one has no damage, quite usable for the next 100 years!
