This very large antique Chinese jadeite pendant is intricately carved to depict a hummingbird, lingzhi, vines, rockery, and even water at the bottom. On the reverse is a strange kind of egg-like carving, probably a Taoist object. We estimate the carving to be from the 19th century; the tooling is not precise like modern jade carvings. This highly unusual carving we believe would have been worn as a pendant, because it has a hole at the top for mounting to a chain or silk rope. Because it is so large, it also makes a beautiful display object. The rosewood stand was custom built for it. The pendant itself weighs 5.33 ounces or about 755.5 Carats. It measures 3 7/8 inches by 2 3/4 inches by 7/16 inches thick - very large indeed for a pendant. The colors range from deep forest greens to emerald greens to a creamy beige. Stunning, unusual and one of a kind!
