A fine Hotei or laughing Buddha, 19th century, or late Qing dynasty. This is a nicely made antique porcelain Buddha, with finely done hand painting on his robe and other details. This is a large sized Buddha figure, measuring about 11 inches tall (28 cm). From a New England estate. We estimate the date to be 1870-1900, buy loosely could be dated late Qing dynasty. Unmarked, this was probably not an export figure but if it was predated the McKinley tariff act and so remained without any marks to indicate origin. Really great detail and expression! Heavy! In excellent condition with no damage or repairs. Wear to gold on his meditation beads.
