Puddingstone, in this case black jasper, is so call because of the clumpy inclusions in the stone. Often these are bits of fossilized material from plants or coral. This bottle is well hollowed, exquisitely well carved, and has an unusual top comprised on an antique French 5 centimes coin and agate. Concave mouth and bottom - a feature often found on well carved antique snuff bottles. Neatly carved bone spoon (pitted and porous, we have verified it is indeed bone). Very early 20th century, circa 1918 based on the date of the coin. Interestingly, the maker must have chose this coin because it is an exact fit to the mouth of the bottle! Excellent condition, very slight wear to surfaces of the stone, no damage. Measures 7.6 cm or 3 inches tall to the stopper top. Absolutely beautiful!
