Presented is a Norah Wellings Jollyboy sailor doll sold as a souvenirs on British ships throughout the 20th century. This vintage 8 inch doll was a souvenir available on the R.M.S. (Royal Mail Ship) Queen Elizabeth in the late 1940s. The Queen Elizabeth was launched in 1938. She was almost immediately pressed into service as a troop carrier. She didn't begin carrying paying passengers until late in 1946, after World War II had ended!
This doll is in excellent condition. He has a stockinette face with impish painted features. The only issues are some fraying of his roping and a bit of light staining on his hat (please see pictures). This can probably be carefully cleaned, if desired. You'll have a hard time finding another example this nice!
