Wow, what great colors and so much workmanship! Stevens and Williams, Webb, and others employed thorn style handles on their hand worked glass baskets. This color has passed through my hands once before and I haven't seen another glass maker besides Stevens and Williams use it. It is basically a cased glass, with a bright yellow layer and cranberry layer applied together, and an applied clear crest on the edge. The small crimp on the double crimped body is very small and tight. There are no chips, cracks or damage. There is a tool mark in the interior where the crimp tool I believe made contact with the interior glass; it is near one of the large folds and really not worth mentioning as all of these types of hand made antiques have some imperfections - and you won't see it when displayed. However we took a picture so you could see. This is a good sized basket, measuring 8 inches long on the longest part of the body and measuring 8 inches tall to the looped thorn handle. Looks like delicious candy! Smooth ground bottom pontil, as most of the quality makers had. Truly beautiful and unusual!
