This is one of the most breathtaking examples of Victorian art glass that we have encountered in recent times. This is copper or gold infused aventurine glass, skillfully crafted into a floral-like spiral. Held in the light, it is alive with glittering magic! I can't imagine what it would do in a lit cabinet display. Hand blown, hand worked glass. Pontil mark on the bottom which has been fire polished. The plate measures 7 and 1/8 inches (18cm) in diameter. You have to see this piece of glass to really appreciate it, but I promise, you will be delighted with it. Circa 1870 to 1880, probably European. Possibly even earlier, before pressed glass became popular. Best displayed with a plate holder, as the pontil mark does allow it a little wobble on a hard surface. If you like we'll include the one in the picture free of charge. An amazing piece of glass workmanship.
