This all larimar necklace is just stunning to behold and features the absolute finest of these gorgeous stones from the Dominican Republic.
The necklace is composed of polished roundels at 4.5mm in varying shades of aqua and blues at 18" and is finished with a front toggle closure of sterling silver from which a stunning focal sways.
The focal is the absolute finest specimen of larimar and is as good as it gets. The pendant is beautifully picturesque and mirrors the Caribbean on a bright sunny day. It measures at a large 1.75" including the sterling cone bead cap, with a carat weight of 29, in a briolette which is very uncommon for larimar as the roughs are normally thin flat slabs.
FYI, larimar is a gem of the Caribbean and is a rare form of pectolite, which was discovered in the 1970's and is only found in the Dominican Republic. It has an extraordinary blue appearance similar to the color of the ocean in tropical areas. The name "Larimar" comes from a combination of Larissa and Mar and was given to the stone by a Dominican who named the stone after his daughter Larissa and Mar, the Spanish word for sea.
