For your consideration is an Art Deco period Art Thermometer Thermo-Dial desk thermometer by Thermo-Dial Laboratories, Newark, NJ (Pat. Date 1922 on label). The thermometer has a black Tole painted brass upper section on a deep green-black metal base. The temperature markers still have their red paint and the temperature can be read fine behind the yellowed window. The finial spins, spinning the temperature dial but I have no idea what for, possibly to keep the mechanism freed-up. The red knob on the underside is used to calibrate the thermometer. The unit is in nice condition, retains most of the original paint, excellent label, and working close to our modern thermometer, but no guarantees as to accuracy. The piece stands 5.6 inches tall.
