For your consideration is an Edo (Tokugawa) Period Japanese bronze hand chased repousse planter with a signed Japanese bronze mirror used as the bottom and lead soldered in place. The planter features birds on tree limbs with one pin-hole and several areas where the artist pushed through the metal when forming the repousse work. The planter scenes are more in the Chinese tradition. The planter stands 10.2 inches (26.8 cm) tall with a top diameter of 9.9 inches (25.2 cm) and a base diameter of 7.7 inches (19.6 cm). The planter weighs approximately 7.9 pounds. The mirror is signed and in very nice condition. As found.
