Set of 11 English sterling demitasse spoons with tongs, ca.1891. Made by George Maudsley Jackson, a renowned silversmith of the 19th century. Each spoon has a figure in apostle style. The top of the man's hat has an engraved letter "B", as does the top of the tongs. The tongs were made a year earlier in 1890 and have a figure of the man on each side. One of the spoons has a slight nick on its bowl end. One of the small bowls on the tongs are slightly bent in; could easily be set straight. In the slot of the missing spoon is a spoon made in Birmingham, ca.1933. All encased in a satin and plush hard sided leatherette case. Beautiful set and quite scarce.
