I have always enjoyed dolls of all eras but I have to admit these early 19th century dolls give me a special thrill!
This doll is impressive an impressive size. She is a so-called "Milliner's Model" style doll with the hairstyle collectors term as an "Apollo's Knot." In this hard-to-find larger size the hairstyle is spectacular.
The doll has at some point in her life been expertly re-costumed in clothing appropriate to her. Great fabric, style and construction. Under dress and leglets are sewn on so I did not remove them for the photos. Doll is wearing a custom-made stand which displays her beautifully and safely, but it could be removed if you choose to do so.
Condition: there are fine surface craze lines on the shoulderhead, with some deeper cracks on the lower shoulderplate, some paint loss on the wooden limbs and a few patched areas on the kid body. None of which is too surprising with a doll of this type and age. Check our photos carefully and I think you will agree she is still a beauty!
