Art Fabric Mills, Merrie Marie Doll, printed cloth
The Art Fabric Mills of New Haven, Connecticut made this printed cloth doll in the early 20th century. As you can see she has printed features and undergarments.
One of Art Fabric Mills' patent improvements was for the seaming of their doll's feet which gave them a more natural shape.
Maker: Art Fabric Mills (company purchased by Selchow & Righter in 1911)
Marks: patent date February 13, 1900 on foot
Condition: Unusually good condition, fabric is strong and has very little surface soiling, a few light age spots above the mouth (from too many kisses?) Sides of the neck have long ago been overstitched to reinforce, perhaps done when the doll was originally sewn together or maybe an old mend.
