Vintage Retro Brooch Clip 18k Gold Diamonds Rubies Appraisal Flowers Unisex(6973)

Vintage Retro brooch clip. 18k yellow and white gold, diamonds, rubies. Made circa 1940 to 1950's. Suitable for a man or a woman. Independent appraisal.

Measurements: Weight is 16.0 grams. 7.30ct Old European Cut diamonds. 2.86ct rubies. Length a little over 2 inches (5cm).

Description : Designed as a spray or bunch of flowers, held together by a golden ribbon, twisting, turning and bending to one side. Very rich use of lovely old cut diamonds and bright rubies which constitute symbolised flowers. Yellow gold ribbon realistically knotted around it's middle, bends and scrolls adding a sense of movement to the brooch. Very rich use of materials, both gems and metal. Yellow gold ribbon forms most of the mount, but diamonds are set in white gold, which was traditionally used for diamonds, while the colored stones, rubies in this case, are set in yellow gold. The maker certainly knew and understood centuries of jewelry traditions and knowledge.

Double pin clip at the back in white gold with a very sturdy hinge and a c-clasp for one side to ensure further security. Appearance of the back of the brooch is impressive - very fine workmanship and indicates the luxurious level of this clip.

Marks and Metal: No marks found. Gold was acid tested to ensure purity.
