Antique Brooch / Pendant / Necklace. 14k gold (56 zolotniks), 18k gold, silver (84 zolotniks), guilloche enamel, rose cut diamonds and a natural pearl (not tested). Made by Nikolai A. Antipenkov, active in Moscow, Russia 1894-1917. Made Moscow 1908-1917.

Measurements: Length approximately 2.5 inches (5.8cm). Weighs 12.3 grams. 3 Old European Cut diamonds approximately 1.18ct; approximately 0.93ct rose cut diamonds. (total diamond weight approximately 2.12ct). Pearl is 5mm in size.

Description : Made late 19th - early 20th century, this jewel epitomises the period and lies between High Victorian, fine Faberge and the Art Nouveau style. This combination was quite combination in Russian jewelry such as that sold by Faberge. Botanical theme with modelled leaves in guilloche enamel. Stylised flowers and berries in the form of floating diamonds, held aloft in a floral silver mount of fluted flower form. The gems are set in a layer of silver over a backing of gold, typical of the 19th century. The drop is attached via a loop so that it can move and swing independantly of the upper section. The center of the piece is a pearl, believed to be a natural (not cultured) pearl, surrounded by diamonds in the form of a flower, called a marguerite, by the French.

c-clasp to gold pin is original. A pair of loops is attached to an 18k gold chain that transforms the brooch to a pendant/necklace.

Beautiful workmanship. Highly wearable and versatile.

Came from the collection of a French gentleman collector.

Marks: There are a lot of hallmarks: the pin has Russian marks. The back is hallmarked twice: once by the original maker in Moscow, pre Russian revolution; secondly by the Soviets some time later. The clasp/loop of the chain is also hallmarked.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age and use. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
