This is a fabulous frame. Entirely hand carved (not applied carving), this piece is in the style of the German Black Forest but I believe this is French in origin. Late 19th century I would say. Probably once an easel style but now fitted to hang on the wall. Carved when the Carte de Visite sized early photography was in vogue, so possibly date it c.1850-65. This frame has an aperture of 3.5" x 2.5" (oval), and the outer frame is 10.75" x 8.5" and approximately 2" in depth. Pretty flowers and vines in an overall organic motif with the traditional bow of that period. Very good to excellent condition. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will help arrange shipping for you; my experience with large or small has been excellent. I do offer an easy layaway program. Usually just 20% down with the remaining term somewhat negotiable---I try to be very flexible on this. Just email to discuss layaway terms. I guarantee everything I sell to be authentic - no exceptions. I have been in business over 30 years and my reputation is without flaw.
