This is a pretty American needlework sampler dated 1832. Signed Eliza Brown, this alphabet sampler has several different scripts of letters but most impressive is her work which I would call Victorian ornate. I thought I might find an exact name for this letter design but was unable to. Very beautiful work. Additionally, there are motifs of fir trees, building (school?), birds, dogs, etc. A nice repeating border and her 'Be ye followers of me even as I also am of Christ 1832'. Condition is very good with just a couple small holes and some loss stitches. Housed in a old frame (with early framers tag) but not original. Overall size is 18.5 x 24.0.
