I especially like this 1841 Sampler by Elizabeth Mary Grattan. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Fixed to linen with wood and brown paper backing. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout. Floral border. Colors brown, cream, green, copper, black, pink and white. Verse reads 'Ah Jesus is mine I'm now prepard> To meet with what I thought most hard> Yes let the winds of trouble blow> And comforts melt away like snow> No blasted trees or failing crops> Can hinder my eternal hopes> Tho creatures change the Lord's the same> Then let us triumph in his name..' Signed and dated 'Elizabeth Mary Grattan 1841'. A good set of motifs, including potted flowering plants, flowers, birds and fruit baskets. Very good condition---please review photos. Overall size is 17 x 18.5 inches. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Either email any day of the week or call at our store 574-594-9100 on Friday, or Saturday.
