Antique Dresden Christmas Ornament Violin and Case, Dollhouse Miniature 1” Scale. This amazing miniature Dresden Christmas ornament is made from heavy cardstock paper. The detail is truly amazing. The case is red and grain painted, it has a glossy finish. The case even has a metal handle for carrying as well as a paper-hinged lid with gold Dresden paper clasps. The violin is mounted on the white paper backing which is removable. The violin is also grain painted. Perfect to do double duty as a Christmas Decoration in December or to have a permanent place in a special dollhouse.
German Dresden Christmas decorations were made for a short period of time from 1870-1910. The Dresden factory would stamp out the parts, which were put together in the homes of cottage workers. Painted examples such as this violin are uncommon. Dresden ornaments were primarily exported to the United States.
