Antique die-cut cat calendar from a general store dated 1908. The calendar reads 'compliments of Chas. Osthoff Dealer in Wagons, Buggies, and Hardware.' A beautiful green eyed tabby and white kitten is the centerpiece of this calendar and is surrounded by five very large roses. The kitten sits in a basket with blue ribbons on the handle and a blue cushion. The colors are vibrant and the design is charming. 1908 is the year this calendar was used in Charles' store whose buggie and wagon business was soon to take a hit from the automobile industry. But this calendar represents a frozen moment in time when horses were still king of transportation and general stores were the suppliers of small town America.
The calendar has some discoloration above January with some curling of the calendar pages and tearing to the lower edge of January. It has a repaired Left upper corner as can be seen on the back view. The beautiful lithography of an adorable kitten more than makes up for these minor imperfections.
