Tobacco felt college sports series featuring track and field hurdles at Rutgers University. In an effort to appeal to college students, Murad produced tobacco flannels which pictured 9 sports from 30 colleges. The sports featured were tennis, swimming, rowing, hockey, football, basketball, baseball, fencing and two images for track and field. One image for track and field was running, while the other was hurdles. There were 300 tobacco felts made in this series. Not only are these particular felts used in dollhouses but are collected by sports collectors and of course the alumni of the schools pictured. These felts pre-date World War I and are some of the earliest sports collectibles. These felts can be framed and displayed for alumni.
This felt features Rutgers' pennant and school seal. A track and field hurdler is pictured and it has bright scarlet fringe. The condition of this particular felt is pristine. Their appears to be an inventory number printed in red on back but it is not readable.
Doesn't your doll house need a man's room with some sports memorabilia? If so, this may be an item you want.
