Tobacco felt college sports series featuring fencing at Knox college. In an effort to appeal to college students, Murad produced tobacco flannels which pictured 9 sports from 30 colleges. The sports featured were tennis, swimming, rowing, hockey, football, basketball, baseball, fencing and two images for track and field. There were 300 tobacco felts made in this series. Not only are these particular felts used in dollhouses but are collected by sports collectors and of course the alumni of the schools pictured. These felts pre-date World War I and are some of the earliest sports collectibles. These felts can be framed and displayed for alumni.
This felt features Knox College's pennant and school seal. A fencer is pictured and it has bright purple fringe. The condition of this particular felt is pristine. The brown discoloration on the back of the felt occurred during manufacturing and is a dye, it is not raised.
How fun to create a man's room in your doll house. I'm thinking a billiards table, trophies and this would be a great sports memorabilia to add atmosphere to the room.
