Antique Edwardian cased silver metal sewing set circa 1900. These four sewing implements include scissor, stiletto, and thimble. There may have been a small needle or bodkin as well as there is small loop below the stiletto. The condition of all the pieces are excellent as shown except for the thimble. The thimble has an undecipherable mark inside and has obviously been used as it is out of shape. The thimble bears a monogram. It is possible that the thimble is not original to the set. It has a small three branch acanthus type design around the edge which is consistent but not identical to the other designs on the set. The only mark on the set is inside the needle case and it is a stamped mark, which is indecipherable. I am selling this set as silver plate, but it could possibly be sterling.
The case is a wellmade tan leather with a velvet interior and satin in the lid. It snaps shut with a loud click and excellent push button. There is a slight gap when the case is shut. Some scuffing and wear to case as pictured. There is some wear to velvet where implements have rested.
This is a charming set with an elegant Edwardian Era design. The set is unpolished and has a rich antique patina of gunmetal grey. Possibly sterling, but can’t identify mark.
