Mechanical twin babies with celluloid faces circa 1900. When the bellow is squeezed, the babies cry and turn their heads toward each other. The babies are half faces made of celluloid and surrounded by a bed of lace. The babies have blue eyes. There is age discoloration to the lace with loss of silk ribbon down the front. I have seen a similar pair to this with bisque baby heads that were marked Gebruder Heubach so I think we can assume this was made in Germany.
Date: Circa 1900
Size: Including lace approximately 9.5 x 8 inches
Condition: Working condition. When bellows pressed, babies turn to face each other and cry. Age discoloration to lace. Loss of silk ribbon down the front.
