Vintage chalkware cat with bow, hand-painted, circa 1930. This white cat with orange bow is solid and heavy. He has black painted feet, ears and tail and his amber colored eyes match his bow. His facial detailing includes a black nose and mouth, whisker holes, black pupils and black eyebrows around his eyes. His fur is heavily textured. This chalkware cat is highly detailed and charmingly painted.
Chalkware was produced in the 19th century using Staffordshire type molds and this chalkware was hollow. There was a substantial amount of chalkware made during the Depression Era. Naïve, folk-art style chalkware was made as give-aways for the fair in the 1940’s-1960’s. This cat is probably from the 1930’s, though he could have been made earlier in the century.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with some loss of paint to bow. No chips, cracks or repairs.
