Chunky Sterling Silver Abalone Rectangle Ring Size 7-1/2
Sterling silver ring features an inlaid rectangular abalone shell. The way the stone looks in proportion to the silver frame is just great. I took so many photos of this vintage ring because the colors seem to change depending on the light and when turned at different angles. It is amazing how a flat matte, smooth surface can emit such lights and colors. It goes from a dark almost black to grey shades, pastel shades of purple and green and finally to blazing orange colors. These photos truly show the ring as it is. Colors change like magic.
When viewed as dark, almost black, you can see that the stone is in an unpolished state. Perhaps the sheen has worn off or it never was polished. My pictures are done in macro where you see every little tiny bit of wear- the silver may appear scratched a bit and have a couple of teeny tiny grooves. When worn, it is virtually unnoticeable. All abalone jewelry that I have seen or sold has always been in a polished, shiny state. This difference is what attracted me to this ring.
This ring is solid, and I do mean solid silver – it has a very nice weight of 10.6 grams. The setting is solid and the band itself is nice and sturdy. Center setting measures 1” x 3/4". Size 7-1/2 Marked 925 inside band.
