Big Bold Rich Deep Bright purple amethyst rhinestones adorn this fabulous old set. It dates from either the 1930’s or 40’s. Brooch features large rectangular faceted amethyst rhinestone. The stone itself is 7/8” in length and has eight sides, not four. It is in an open back prong setting. Flower centers on all pieces have fully faceted chaton rhinestones. The cut of the stones assures you of such glimmer and sparkle from within. My photos pale to seeing this set in person. The stones are phenomenally gorgeous. Earrings are screw backs – my favorites- I have never lost any while wearing screw backs. These were made with a gold wash finish. Time has worn off most of it, but you can still see some remnants if you look closely. The patina of the brooch is soft and lovely. Earring have a bit more gold showing in the petals.
Brooch measures 4” L x 2’7/8 W. Earrings are 1” in diameter. Back of brooch is incised STERLING, and I believe there is an anchor mark for the town of Birmingham. England. It’s pretty hard to see, but it looks like it to me. Earrings are also marked STERLING on their backs. These pieces have an incredible amount of silver and are sturdy, not thin or flimsy in the least. They were made to last a lifetime.
