Dazzling vintage multi-tiered brooch is just loaded with pizzazz. Vibrant topaz colored large navette rhinestones from bottom stem to tip of pin have amazing color. Each long faceted topaz stone measures 5/8” in length. The table, or top surface of these stones, is highly polished and without any scratches, chips or whatever. They are perfect from tip to tip and sparkle and gleam like mad. Center features three layered navettes, each layered one upon the other, with the two nearest the stem being surrounded and adorned by crystal clear chaton rhinestones. There are also clear rhinestones interspersed throughout the center of the brooch. All stones are prong set. This glamorous brooch is an absolutely wonderful bit of glitz and definitely not for the timid.
Measures just under 3-1/2” in length and 1-3/8” across the widest part. Very solid construction. Back is marked WEISS in an oval cartouche. Condition is mint – looks like it was never worn and in the same condition as when it was purchased many years ago. Rhodium plated back. Pin mechanism works perfectly.
Albert Weiss founded this company in 1942. Prior to that, he was a designer for Coro in the 1930’s. He is known for floral and figural brooches and earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Weiss ceased operations in 1971. During the 1950’s and 1960’s they were so overwhelmed that they contracted with Hollycraft to help fill orders.
