Hmmm...An elephant and a donkey. Does this remind you of anything? Perhaps it is political, representing the elephant as republican and the donkey as democrat. In any case it is a witty and amusing piece of vintage jewelry.
There is a palm tree with a donkey that seems to be braying at the elephant from the very top of the tree. Elephant not only has his trunk up, but his forefeet are off the ground and he is balancing on his hind legs. He, too, seems to be braying at the donkey. Both animals have red enamel eyes.
Charm was originally finished in gold tone metal. The remaining coloring is a very light gold, not brassy, In fact, the charm appears to be more of a silver color, with gold highlights, with most of the gold coloring worn away. It shines and looks great. Charm is on a gold tone rope like bracelet with a spring ring closure which works well.
Charm measures 1-5/8" diameter. Bracelet is 7-1/2" x 3/8". Bracelet has a brighter gold tone finish than the charm. I think someone really loved and handled the charm a bit more than the bracelet.
