Art Deco Sky Blue Vanity Set in Original Case This set dating from the 1930’s is composed of a brush, mirror, comb, file and bottles within a hard black faux leatherette case.
Brush and mirror have beautiful sky blue plastic inside of a bezel set silver tone frame. In the center of each piece is a sort of raised shield or coat of arms design with floral elements done with black accents. The blue is a beautiful sky blue. They look like they were never used. Mirror is of has beveled edges and is of very good quality. It has withstood time very well and reveals a crystal clear image.
Also included in the case are a faux tortoise shell comb, nail file and several clear glass bottles. Bottles all have the same blue accents on their lids. Looking inside the lids, they appear to be brand new. When you unscrew the lid, each reveals a stopper with cork. The top of the stopper has a single center hole. Stoppers and cork section also appear to be brand new – super superb condition.
Inside of case is lined with a very soft light lavender cloth. Holding each piece in place is a snap clip or two. Snaps work perfectly. However due to the passage of time, holders are not very snug and bottles can move about a bit.
Case is in very good condition considering its age. The handle appeared secure…until I picked the case up by it…then voila, one handle unfastened itself. Oooops! You can easily fix this with a drop of glue or some thread perhaps. I did not want to ‘fix’ it for fear that someone would pick up the case by the handle and damage either the case or contents. Case has a secure lock – well it closes and stays closed and opens by sliding the little button to the side, but there is no key. Case measures 12”L x 9-3/4”W x 3”D.
All in all this is a very nice set and blue is such a complimentary classic color. You'll just love it!
