Sparkling chrome or Stainless Steel (not quite sure, but the metal is in great shiny condition) Tantalus acts as a housing for two crystal pressed glass diamond point decanters.
The Tantalus itself is bright and shiny and in excellent condition. The frame resembles a gate; the tips are so similar in appearance to those found on gates and fences. The gate door swings open to reveal its contents. Metal is in excellent condition.
The bottom of the Tantalus is of laminated composition and has a few indents from the bottles. You can remove it once the bottles are no longer within.
Crystal decanters are of heavy pressed glass having a diamond point pattern on all four sides. Within the pattern there is an area of smooth glass in the shape of a diamond. These smooth diamond shapes can be found on all sides of the decanters as well as the stoppers. This adds a nice touch.
There is absolutely no wear to be found on these decanters. Even the bottoms look great.
The decanters are a bit unusual in size, being rectangular rather than square shaped. They must be placed with the narrow sides at the front in order to fit.
Stoppers are equipped with plastic to assure a very snug fit and prevent any evaporation or leakage.
Both decanters are wearing liquor tags – one bourbon and one scotch. They appear to be silver plated. You can remove the tags or replace them with your own.
If you wish to lock this, you must supply your own lock as this does not come with one.
Tantalus is 13.5"h x 8.25" W x 5"D. Bottles measure 9.5"H x 4"D x #.5" W
The Tantalus is a type of drinks decanter stand where the bottles are locked within. This was originally devised to prevent servants from stealing the liquor.
Condition is terrific
