Beautiful Bakelite necklace dates from the 1930's or early 1940's. It is composed of seven slightly domed graduated sized discs – more like cabochons (being flat on the underside and rounded or domed on the top).
Discs are connected by shiny gold tone or brass "O" rings. These rings may or may not be original.
I've seen this necklace having celluloid "O" rings connecting them, but have not come across this necklace with metal rings. Personally, I prefer the metal rings, as they add some pizzazz- Plus they not only hold the discs securely but they give the necklace added strength and durability. This necklace goes great with gold tone earrings.
The celluloid chain and hook closure are original and in very good working order.
Measures 16-1/4" end to end. Disc sizes range from 3/4" to 1-1/4". AS you can see in the photos, the condition is excellent. Tested and guaranteed to be Bakelite.
