Ornate Brass Buckle features a deeply set center iridescent medallion made from Abalone/mother of pearl shell accented with a natural freshwater grey pearl. Can be worn with the pearl at the top or at the bottom of the buckle, depending on how one would like to wear it.
Shell is bezel set and framed within a raised border having a design of curved swirls. Border rests upon a foliate Repouse design. Edging has raised beaded design encircling the buckle. Very dimensional in design.
The most distinguished aspect of the buckle is the shell itself. The shell is not at all smooth and polished like you find in most jewelry pieces. Instead you can see and feel all the wonderful recessed wave like ridges. I hope you can see this in the photos.
Grey pearl is a lovely accent, but was not formed on the shell. It has a teeny hole running through it. Hole is placed at the bottommost part of the pearl and is definitely not noticeable at all when worn. To see the hole you have to hold the buckle up under very good lighting and look very closely.
Buckle measures 3" x 2-1/2" and will accommodate a 1-5/8" belt.
Very Sturdy buckle weighs a whopping 138.5 grams
